Our CSR Program

Corporate Social Responsibility

Connecting the Brighton and Hove business community with The Paddle Round The Pier beach festival.

Paddle Round the Pier is an engaging and worthwhile Corporate Social Responsibility project to enhance your company’s team development and commitment to raising money for three very worthwhile charities,

For 2012 these are:-

  • The RNLI
  • Winstons Wish
  • Surf Action

Local businesses are increasingly looking to the local community to meet their developmental needs and social aims. Whether the requirement is team building, a community challenge, a new team start up, motivational incentive or simply an away day from the office, The Paddle Round the Pier is a powerful vehicle for engaging personal and professional development. We can engage your employees at a much deeper level and put the focus on personal and team development as well as enhancing/highlighting your corporate values which can rarely be achieved in conventional training. We can provide a tangible model for team performance whilst creating a fun, interactive and engaging atmosphere far removed from the office. You will also be providing a significant benefit to our chosen charities.
CSR has become a business necessity with the identification and delivery of projects that lead to positive social change and well being. This is an ideal opportunity to encourage employee participation in fundraising and charitable activities.

The Paddle Round the Pier is run entirely by volunteers and over the last few years have raised in excess of £150,000 for charity. We always sponsor the RNLI, a local based children’s charity and a surf related charity.

This is where we need your help – we are looking for local businesses to ’sponsor’ each one of our five entrances. To  sponsor, we mean to provide members of your staff to be responsible for the fundraising on each entrance – this is an ideal opportunity for your team to work together in a competitive environment to maximize their team potential to compete with other companies to see who can raise the most money for charity. This event will also raise your company profile as your gate will be branded with your company logo. Our visitors, exhibitors and competitors do not just come from the local community but internationally so this can only enhance the reputation of your organisation.
Whatever your employees’ skills are we can use them! It’s a great, fun weekend and the opportunity to meet other likeminded people, so as well as doing your bit for charity – it’s lots of fun as well. Many of the volunteers who offered to help a number of years ago and are so passionate about “Paddle” that they have now become some of the main organisers!

Besides providing volunteers you also have the fun, fabulous opportunity to take part in The “Paddle Something Unusual” event which again is the perfect opportunity for your team to exercise their creativity and hone their team building skills.

In previous years we’ve had everything from aeroplanes to a crane, from a bed to a shed, from a hand ball court to a Wimbledon No 1 Court, from Thunderbird 1 to a Wild West Saloon, from Santa’s Summer Sleigh to Morris Dancers in May – the ideas go from ridiculous to ingenious! The only guidelines are to make it as outlandish (but as safe) as possible, raise plenty of money – and have a spectacularly good laugh doing it!
