Paddle Round The Pier

Plumpton College

Plumpton College’s Outdoor Education Department are proud to have been involved with Paddle round the Pier for four years running. We have always been made very welcome with the kindred spirits of the surfing world that is represented at the festival, and they have always given us a job to do at this enjoyable and worthwhile event.

Every year we’ve been involved we’ve helped put up the fencing for the festival and assisted with water safety, in exchange for a stand to advertise the many courses we offer at Plumpton College. One year we headed up water safety for the whole event, which was a real achievement for me and the college.

Our Outdoor Education students, who are training to be leaders in the Outdoor Education Industry, get immense satisfaction from getting stuck in with the hard graft of the festival chores – and when the end of Monday comes when we’ve piled up all the fencing we helped put up on the previous Thursday, I know the students go home shattered yet very pleased with themselves that they have made a real contribution to such a worthy cause. Staff and students look forward to this event every year and endeavour to represent Plumpton College Outdoor Education Department as a hardworking and reliable partner to this awesome event.
