Los Albertos
"Part nice men from next door, part cheeky rascals, all fun, Los Albertos lit the festival fuse with a Spiegeltent-packing, foot-stomping, rip snorter… playing ska-based dance music of the highest order – the guitarist ranges from chicken scratch to Carlos Santana, saxs’ and horn go from wall of brass via horn stabs to klezma reediness, the bass is fat and solid, and the drummer is just superb. The lyrics are tight, contemporary and a bit naughty – perfect!"

Railing Stains
A Cover Band? Absolutely - remember that Rolling Stones themselves were a cover band in their early days. Their early LP's, recorded before the Jagger-Richards songwriting partnership got into full swing, are full of cover versions of tracks by the great R'n'B artists who influenced them - Chuck Berry, Howling Wolf, Bo Diddley, etc.
A Tribute Band? Absolutely not. The Railing Stains pay homage to the Stones by performing their songs in a completely authentic manner, with a stage presence and attitude which does justice to this classic material. However the term "tribute band" often conjures up images of silly wigs, backing tapes and rehearsed coreography. If that is what you want then there are plenty of bands like this who will give you great entertainment. But the Railing Stains are a hard-driving, gutsy rock'n'roll band, not actors - their sell-out performances speak for themselves. |

Estrondo
Estrondo are a 22 piece live percussion band, or 'bateria', playing both traditional-Brazilian and Brazilian-influenced rhythms including samba, samba-reggae, funk, breakbeat and hip-hop.
Depending which Brazilian you talk to, Estrondo means 'thunder', 'rumble' or 'boom', any of which make a more than satisfactory description for our name. |

Rinky Dinks
Introducing The Rinky Dinks:
Bristol’s first ukulele supergroup!
Comprising musicians drawn from a number of Bristol bands past and present and representing musical genres as diverse as hip hop, metal, house and pop; The Dinks aim to wrestle back all the best tunes from the ubiquitous guitar bands!
The idea really took off when Mike Tripp (Trippy, The Kerbs) lent Joe Brown (Trippy, Funky Onion) a ukulele over Christmas 2005. After a few rehearsals with drummer Neil Watkins (T Minus 50, All Creatures) and Trev Maybury (The Happy Testicles, Fez Townsend Big Band) on bass they played their first gig at the Mayors Arms, Bristol in April 2006.
After that first gig, Ieuan Macey (Trippy, T Minus 50) was drafted in to play bass and Trev took up the ukulele, creating the final line up of three ukuleles, a bass guitar and a snare drum.
Since then The Rinky Dinks have continued to build their live reputation in and around the South West and have played gigs as diverse as the Nailsea Beer Festival and the Bristol Harbourside Festival.
The Rinky Dinks are now busy adding some fresh new songs to their set in time for summer 2008, so make sure you catch the Rinky Dinks’ unique take on pop music from the ‘30’s to the ‘00’s soon.
Check out The Rinky Dinks’ website (www.myspace.com/therinkydinks) for loads more details, songs, lyrics and the odd video too! |
