The route then takes you anti-clockwise around a diamond shape route marked out with orange marker buoys, keep these on your left.  When you return to the yellow marker buoy, keep it on your right-hand side and return to the beach and across the finish line.*

Distance SUP Race (5km)

Heading straight out from the event village beach, right at the yellow marker buoy sending you west.  Continue west until the yellow marker buoy where you will turn and start heading east.  Continue back past the event village beach and the West Pier until you reach a yellow marker buoy.  Make a turn and start heading east towards the West Pier keeping the orange buoys on your left.  At the cardinal cone at the end of the West Pier, head towards the first marker buoy and turn right in to the beach and across the finish line.*

Prone:

Heading straight out from the event village beach and turning left (east) at the yellow marker buoy. The route then takes you clockwise around a diamond shape route marked out with orange marker buoys, keep these on your right.  When you return to the yellow marker buoy, you can either return to the beach to swap equipment (prone to SUP), or continue past the yellow buoy for the next discipline.

SUP:

Repeat the course in the SUP position until you reach the yellow marker buoy at which point you will return to the beach and leave your equipment in the designated area.

Swim:

Once you are ready, enter the water in the same way as the first loop and repeat the circuit.  When approaching the yellow marker buoy for the last time, keep it on your left

Adult & U18’s SUP Sprint Race (1km), Distance SUP Race (5km) & Under 13’s SUP Sprint Race (500m)

It is your responsibility to know the course route. There is no restriction on board size as this is not a UKSUP event.

You are responsible for providing your own equipment.

No contact with other participants.

Triathlon (Prone/SUP/Swim)

It is your responsibility to know the course route. There is no restriction on board type,  however you must ensure you are able to be in the prone position (laying down using the swimming motion) to be able to take part.

You may have more than one board/vehicle that you can swap, however this must be located in the transition area on the beach.

You may use a SUP for the prone discipline but you are not allowed to use the paddle.  You may store the paddle on the SUP.

You may paddle in the ‘ski’ position (on your knees) if your board is too wide to prone.

You are responsible for providing all of your own equipment.

No contact with other participants.

Adult SUP Sprint Race (1km)

This is a great entry race for anyone who is just getting in to SUP’ing and wants to test their abilities.

You will need to be 18 or over to participate.

Under 18’s SUP Sprint Race (1km)

This is a great entry race for anyone who is just getting in to SUP’ing and wants to test their abilities.

You will need to be under 18 to participate (age may need to be verified by a parent or guardian at registration).

Distance SUP Race (5km)

This is not for the faint hearted.  If you have board confidence and have experience of paddling for at least 1 hour, this is possibly a good challenge for you.

There is only an adult race in this distance so you will need to be 18 or over.

Under 13’s SUP Sprint Race (500m)

This is a great entry race for anyone who is just getting in to SUP’ing and wants to test their abilities.

You will need to be 13 to participate.  (age may need to be verified by a parent or guardian at registration).

Triathlon (Prone/SUP/Swim)

This is a great race for an all-rounder, someone with paddle skills and who has good fish-like skills in the water.

You don’t have to be the best with board skills to win this one!

There is only an adult race in this distance so you will need to be 18 or over.

Due to parking restrictions, please make sure you leave enough time to transport your equipment from your vehicle to the event village. There will be free, secure storage on the site, throughout the weekend.

Even though you have already entered the race, you will still be required to register on the day. You will need to present yourself at the Registration Tent so that we can confirm to our safety boats that you will be on the water  When you  register, you will also produce your sponsorship forms and funds collected.

There will be a strong onshore and offshore safety team made up of trained and experienced professionals with the Brighton & Hove Surf Life Saving Club in support.

Please be aware of the break line both on the way out and on the way in.

We strongly recommend that all participants wear some form of buoyancy aid.

Please contact steve@paddleroundthepier.com if you have any questions.
