The Errant Surf Holidays Pier2Pier Malibu Race

10.30am Saturday 4th July (Amateur)

10.30am Sunday 5th July (Pro)

A traditional ‘paddle race’ on ‘malibu’ surfboards – prone or knee paddle from the eastern side of the Brighton Pier to the western side of the West Pier.

At around 2 miles and against the current this is not an easy race!

This year’s race will have two categories – ‘Pros’ and ‘Amateurs’.

If you are a sponsored surfer in anyway, or compete in the UKPro Surf Tour/BLU events (or similar) then you are classed as ‘Pros’. Everyone else falls into the ‘Amateurs’ category. If in any doubt please email the racedirector@paddleroundthepier.com

Sponsored by Errant Surf Holidays there is a fantastic prize on offer for each winner!

The rules:

  1. The competition is open to anyone representing a shop or business (who in return must agree to provide stock for the main raffle as an entrance fee)

  2. Individuals may enter themselves but must raise a min of £250 in private sponsorship (money to be handed in on the day)

  3. the board must be between 9’& 10’ long and be recognizable as a “longboard”

  4. the board must be no thicker than 4”

  5. standing beach start on the east side of the Palace Pier

  6. running finish up the beach to the west side of the West pier (approx 2 nautical miles)

  7. Under the instruction of the race director, competitors must be prepared to wear a wetsuit if weather/sea conditions are poor (min = shorty).

You will be informed of this decision at registration on the day of the race.

  1. Competitors must register in the Paddle Village (registration marquee) on their race day from 9am until 9.30am
