The Perception Kayaks Pier2Pier2Pier Race

If you like to flex your muscles then the P2P2P race is for you.  This canoe and kayak race sponsored by Perception Kayaks is new for 2008. 

The race starts and finishes on the Festival Beach.  In between is a test of endurance in what is sure to be a fast paced event.  The race heads from the beach, out around the West Pier to the Brighton (Palace) Pier.  At the Brighton Pier competitors will turn round a designated marker before heading back past the end of the West Pier for sprint finish to the Festival Beach. 

The race starts at 11.30am on Saturday 5th July on the Festival Beach.

The Rules:
i)       Competitors may only use canoes or kayaks up to 350cm in length.
ii)      Competitors will be required to provide their own equipment which must include an approved buoyancy aid or life jacket.
iii)      Competitors must be competent sea swimmers
iv)     Competitors must raise a minimum of £50 in personal sponsorship
v)      If deemed necessary all competitors must be have/be prepared to wear a wetsuit or paddling jacket - You will be informed of this on race day conditions dependant.
vii)     Competitors must be registered by 10am in the main Paddle village marquee and report to the Start line 15 minutes prior to the start of the race.
viii)    All sponsorship money must be paid in full at registration

1.    Competitors must follow the course and round all buoys/marks accordingly.
2.    Competitors are responsible for making the start line on time.  The busy schedule means that the

         start of the race can not be delayed for late comers.

The Prizes:

1. The winner will take home the trophy and a Perception Scooter Kayak.
