TAKEPART Brighton’s own Sports Festival is launches with a spectacular opening event on 22nd June in Preston Park 12.00-5.00pm
TheTAKEPART Brighton and Hove International Festival of Sport is growing as ‘the biggest celebration of sport and physical activity in the country‘.
Across the two week festival, people of all ages are given the opportunity to try out a wide range of sports for free, in a fun and non-competitive setting. The aim is to help people to find a sport that they like. They can have a go at anything from Nordic
Walking to Kung Fu. If people are encouraged to increase their participation, they will benefit from a more active and healthy lifestyle. The wide programme of events and taster sessions shows people what sport can offer them, highlighting the vast range of opportunities across the many sports clubs and facilities in Brighton & Hove.
Many activities are things that families can do together. Most of the events are free and designed to be fun.
The TAKEPART tasters and TAKEPART local events encourage people of all ages to try something new. The TAKEPART Schools festival gives young people in Brighton and Hove the opportunity to take part for free or at a reduced rate part in various different activities ranging from Street Dance to Kin Ball. Of the 35,790 young people aged between 5 – 18 in Brighton & Hove (www.neighbourhoodstatistics.gov.uk) 55% of them participated in a sporting activity during the TAKEPART Festival.
With more than 20 activity zones there is no excuse not to TAKEPART. Whether you fancy trying out croquet, football, athletics or even skateboarding. There is huge range of choices for adults and children alike, for all abilities.
