Paddle are delighted to welcome Fatyak Kayaks back for the second year to help us celebrate messing about on the water  – and what easier way than on a sit-on-top kayak! Take a look at the demo pool timetable for when you can have a try in the safety of the Paddle Village or for those more adventurous, try them in the sea.

Fatyak™ Kayaks are manufactured with the utmost of care by real enthusiasts who live and breathe the passion of kayaking. Produced entirely within their our purpose-built factory in Williton, Somerset the team are clearly passionate about what they do.

Fatyak already hold charity paddle races for our good friends the RNLI down in Somerset so we are delighted to to see this Great British brand supporting Paddle Round The Pier once again with not one but three new races on Saturday July 1st.

You do need to pre-register to enter and pay on the Fatyak website link but remember its cheap and all profits go to our charities!

*All adult races are planned for the sea however should conditions be deemed too rough (ie a F4 or over) then all races will be transferred over to the demo pool situated within the Paddle Village.


If we have lots of entries then we will run heats for you but we have lots and lots of Fatyaks to utilise first!

The races will be held over a 200m triangular course (100m for the youth) with the final course been set on the day according to wind and swell direction. The boats will be available during the day for you to try!

For those that want to know – low tide is at 12noon on the Saturday so entry into the sea will be easy.

Entry costs adults are £6.50 by advance booking or £10 on the day, youth £4 by advance booking and £6 on the day.
All money raised goes to our three Paddle charities The RNLI, The Wave Project and Brighton Surf Life Saving Club.

Remember for a small fee you can also hire the boats to take part in the actual Paddle Round The Pier itself on the Sunday at 14:00!

I understand that the sea can be an inherently dangerous place. I confirm that I am a fit and healthy person and that I am easily able to swim a distance of 100m in the sea. I accept that I am fully responsible for my own health, fitness and welfare both in and out of the water and that my participation in the “Fatyak sit-on-top kayak race” is undertaken completely at my own risk. I accept that the event organisers, its staff, sponsors and associates shall not be held liable for any loss or damage howsoever arising, suffered by any participant of the “Fatyak sit-on-top Kayak race” / Paddle Round The Pier beach festival 2016. I also accept that the event organisers may, at their discretion, refuse to allow me to participate in this event, if I appear to be unfit, incapable and/or intoxicated immediately prior to the start
of the race.
