Surf Lifesaving Great Britain have been successful in securing funds from cottage4you for an event called “Women in Waves”. The event is being taken all over the country and hits Brighton Beach on Saturday June 14th.
The aim is to visit beaches around the UK promoting surf lifesaving sport by facilitating come and try sessions for ladies 16yrs+. The event aims to increase participation and to build on existing participation for women. By providing high quality coaches during each event, we will help participants develop their water skills and encourage each to excel in lifesaving sport. In this way we hope to increase the ladies confidence in the sea, promote an accessible sporting activity and encourage them to enjoy our coastline on a more regular basis.
Tracy Lark project coordinator says “This is a brilliant day just for the ladies, improving their confidence, and meeting other women. Their day on the beach will include open water swimming skills, developing board paddling technique and sea safety. The total cost is £20.00 per person which includes use of all equipment, wetsuit and refreshment, which is great value”.
Already 50 women have signed up to take part in the event which forms part of Brighton Surf Life Saving Club’s calendar of summer events concluding with Paddle Round the Pier.
