SUP Sprint Races
Event details & registration
Grab your Paddle Board and take part in our 500M SUP Sprint, Sunday 7th July 2.30pm. Everyone can take part, you choose if you’re there to take part or race!
Registration for this event is FREE which is why we ask you to fundraise for The Paddle Round The Pier Charity.
- Your board or craft must be paddled manually.
- Anyone who is taking part in the water has to be able to swim a minimum of 100 metres in the sea.
- Be able to paddle the craft over the total course yourself.
- Absolutely no propellers or engines of any kind.
- You must ensure that your board is seaworthy and follow our course.
- Our safety team will have the final say on all safety issues including sea conditions.
- Take in the atmosphere and enjoy taking part.
- Raise as much sponsorship as you can.
Even if you have registered on line, set up a Virgin Money Giving fundraising page, for The Paddle round The Pier Charity, ONLY.
There is no minimum amount to raise though, of course the more the better – the preferred method is Virgin Money Giving although a sponsor form can be found below.
For every £5 raised you will receive a raffle ticket, £10 = 2 tickets, £20 = 4 etc, the more you raise the better your chances!
With an array of prizes, worth hundreds of pounds up for grabs, we hope you’ll raise as much as possible to increase your chances of winning. Everybody stands a chance of winning.
On the day
On the day you need to present yourself at the registration tent at least one hour before your event time. Here you can confirm your attendance (for us to pass onto the safety team), hand in or complete any documentation.
You can also hand in any paper sponsorship forms or show your Virgin Money Giving page to collect your raffle tickets.
You will then be directed to the relevant beach where you will find start marshals.
We aim to set off promptly at 2:30pm dependent upon weather and tides.
You will be responsible for your own delivery/collection of your board and also responsible for your own safety and behaviour.
Access & Safety
For safety, there is no vehicle access to the beach / prom.
There will be a water safety team on and offshore during the event.
We strongly advise that all participants wear a personal flotation device.
Please DO NOT get on your craft before you are past the breaking waves (should there be any) and also dismount your craft before returning to shore – there is a danger in that zone especially with heavy crafts.
The safety team’s decision is final on all maters.
Post Paddle & Raffle Prize Draw
After the mass Paddle on Sunday afternoon, everyone heads back to the Paddle Village for the incredible raffle hand-out – remember if you’re not there, you can’t claim your prizes!
Then, why not stay on and enjoy the unique atmosphere at this wonderful weekend festival – repeatedly voted one of the best days out in the UK and previously voted “Best Festival” at the Brighton and Hove Business Awards in spite of exceptionally stiff competition.
Paddle features the very best in water, street and urban sports, live music, kids entertainment, ‘have a go’ opportunities, world food courts and much more! There is also a whole Paddle Village of exhibitions, water sports and beach lifestyle brands for you to explore après swim.
