Kitesurfkings Competition

Event details & registration

About

Life is beautiful at Kitesurkings and what’s better than rounding off a great day than a lush kitesurf session with other lovely dudes? Maybe one with easy to win prizes thrown in the mix…

Saturday 6th July – Mixed Ability Kitesurf Competition with Kitesurfkings starting at 19.00 and finishing at 20.00 (but feel free to kite for as long as you wish). We have a really nice low tide of 0.8m at 21.00 and so from 19.00 onwards it will be happy kiting. If it’s a sweet day then 19.00’s the right time we can enjoy the thermal top up of a sea breeze. Having kites set up and ready to launch by 19.00 would
be ideal.

More Info

Kitesurfers don’t really need an excuse to kite but hopefully the added bonus of some prizes being up for grabs will mean they’ll be
some kiting to come and enjoy… whether you’re watching from the beach or sharing high fives on the water it doesn’t get much cooler
than kiting.

The session’s open to all and we’re trying to incentivise a fun display by enlisting the help of spectators to allocate prizes for:

* Most fun to watch
* Best wipe out
* Highest jumps
* Most effort
* Least amount of neoprene (oh ah)

If you’d like to be one of our judges, that’s great, we’d love you too, just grab a form to fill in from us at the Kitesurfkings stand or
from one of us when we hit the beach just before 19.00.

Participants: this is a freeride event so it is no different from any other kite session other than they’ll be some people on the beach
watching you and some prizes up for grabs, even for the most unsuspecting recipient. This means we are not providing additional
safety cover or insurance or stipulating the use of any specific equipment. Please just stick to Kitesurfkings golden rules, which are:
‘no heroes’ and ‘a safe environment (for you, others and your kit)’.

Come and say hi at the Kitesurfkings stand to register in advance if you can, if not we’ll just meet at the kite beach. You can also email
info@kitesurfkings.com if there’s any additional information you require. The kite beach is directly in front of Paddle, close to the
Kitesurfkings pitch and Meeting Place Cafe off Hove Lawns. It will be clearly marked with Kitesurfkings, Cabrinha and CrazyFly flags and
banners, the easiest one to spot reading ‘warning! kite launch and landing beach!’

If you are coming down to Paddle and wish to leave your kitesurfing gear with us before the comp you can. Maybe you were part of the Downwinder (_link to page_) in the morning or want to hit the dance floor? You can leave your gear at our stand but please note this is at your own risk and must be collected by 18.30, we’ve never had any issues but just covering all eventualities.

Registration

Registration for this event is FREE which is why we ask you to fundraise for The Paddle Round The Pier Charity.

Rules

Judging will be taking place from 19.00 to 20.00 but kite as long as you like. Prizes will be allocated after the session if possible but if
we’ve not managed to catch up then swing by our stand the following day (Sunday) to check in and find out the results. If you have
registered your details with us in advance of the event then we can obviously let you know if you’re a winner…. hey, you took part, of
course you’re a winner 😉

Sponsorship

Even if you have registered on line, set up a Virgin Money Giving fundraising page, for The Paddle round The Pier Charity, ONLY.

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/PRTP19

There is no minimum amount to raise though, of course the more the better – the preferred method is Virgin Money Giving although a sponsor form can be found below.

For every £5 raised you will receive a raffle ticket, £10 = 2 tickets,  £20 = 4 etc, the more you raise the better your chances!

With an array of prizes, worth hundreds of pounds up for grabs, we hope you’ll raise as much as possible to increase your chances of winning. Everybody stands a chance of winning.

On the day

Come and say hi at the Kitesurfkings stand to register in advance if you can, if not we’ll just meet at the kite beach. You can also email

Access & Safety

We strongly recommend that life jackets and helmets are worn and that everyone have the appropriate insurance but this is a freeride event.
This is a freeride event so it is no different from any other kite session other than they’ll be some people on the beach watching you

Post Paddle & Raffle Prize Draw

After the mass Paddle on Sunday afternoon, everyone heads back to the Paddle Village for the incredible raffle hand-out – remember if you’re not there, you can’t claim your prizes!

Then, why not stay on and enjoy the unique atmosphere at this wonderful weekend festival – repeatedly voted one of the best days out in the UK and previously voted “Best Festival” at the Brighton and Hove Business Awards in spite of exceptionally stiff competition.

Paddle features the very best in water, street and urban sports, live music, kids entertainment, ‘have a go’ opportunities, world food courts and much more! There is also a whole Paddle Village of exhibitions, water sports and beach lifestyle brands for you to explore après swim.
